Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. Her songs are classified by the label as alternative and folk. However, they also incorporate elements of hip-hop music, jazz and punk. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement and is among the first artists to create her own record label in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent and her mother was from Montreal. The song by Ani, 32 Flavors, was composed by her and is performed by Ani. The song can be found on the album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, that was released in 1996. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. The course was later cancelled however, she did not express any regret. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterward.
